David de Gea has reportedly rejected an initial offer from Manchester United, with rumours of a possible exit from the Red Devils circulating.

The Spaniard moved to Manchester over ten years ago, signing from Atletico Madrid back in 2011. Since then he has made 529 appearances and holds the record for the most clean sheets by a Manchester United keeper with 183.

Not only does he boast an impressive list of individual accolades, being included in the Premier League TOTY on five separate occasions. He has also won, the Premier League, FA Cup, 2x Carabao Cup and the Europa League during his time in Manchester.

However, recent years have not been so kind to the 32-year-old and many supporters have questioned his place under Erik ten Hag. Despite keeping 11 clean sheets this season, only bettered by Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale, his ability on the ball has been scrutinised.

United’s manager is renowned for his style of play, that utilises the goalkeeper far more than previous managers of the Red Devils. The signing of Lisandro Martinez in defence highlighted this, as the Argentine is known for his composure on the ball.

This, alongside his huge salary may see the end of de Gea’s time in England as United look to build on the progress that they have already made. According to reports, the Spanish shot-stopper is aware that he will need to reduce his £375k a week contract, but has rejected the clubs first offer.

Should both parties fail in reaching an agreement, then the possible addition of a new keeper will be a necessity. One player that has been linked with a move to the Red Devils is Porto’s, Diogo Costa. The 23-year-old has impressed in Portugal, with many top sides keeping tabs on his situation.
