Liverpool will face a £60 million battle to sign Marc Guehi with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United also set to contemplate a summer bid for the defender.
Guehi has emerged as a full England international since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea for £18 million in 2021.
Sources indicate that all five top Premier League clubs are tracking Guehi ahead of this summer and the player’s ambition will eventually lead to a transfer away from Selhurst Park.
Guehi does not have a release clause like the one inserted into Michael Olise’s deal, but Palace know they have a gem in the shape of Guehi and would look to price him at the top end of the market.
Early indications are that £60 million would be a good estimate at where any bid would be expected to land – but Palace would also be keen to delay any move until after Euro 2024 if they can not convince him to stay for next season.
Guehi is expected to be in Gareth Southgate’s plans for Germany and that would give reason to believe his value could rise even higher over the summer.
Liverpool transfer news – Battle For Guehi Heats Up
Fresh reports suggest Liverpool are very keen on Guehi as they begin to consider targets for the next transfer window, when a new defender is going to be in the plans.
Liverpool are believed to be well placed in terms of Profit and Sustainability Rules and there remains ongoing doubt about the future of Virgil van Dijk.
Along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah, he will be out of contract in 2025 so updates around that situation are expected at the back end of this season.
Guehi, 23, is contracted to Palace until 2026 and current suggestions are that he would not be interested in the idea of a new improved deal at this stage.
New Palace boss Oliver Glasner faces a big challenge in the job as he comes to grips with a side sliding towards a relegation battle and with Premier League clubs also interested in Olise and Eberechi Eze for the summer window.
It remains to be seen what other Liverpool transfer news surfaces as the Reds prepare for life without Jurgen Klopp.
