City Of Troy has been handed a rating of 125 after his recent Dewhurst Stakes win at Newmarket – a mark that has catapulted him into second in the all-time Ballydoyle juvenile list.
City Of Troy Handed New Rating Of 125 After Newmarket Dewhurst Success
The Aidan O’Brien-trained next potential ‘wonder horse’ CITY OF TROY has been given a new juvenile rating of 125 after his easy 3 1/2 length Dewhurst Stakes win at Newmarket – a mark that sees him move up to second in the all-time Ballydoyle 2 year-old list (see the full list below).
City Of Troy has only raced three times, but he’s won each race now by a combined total 12 1/2 lengths and the worrying thing for any horse wanting to take him on next season – is there could be a lot more improvement to come.
The thinking here is that his sire – a horse called Justify, who won the US Triple Crown in 2018 – didn’t even set foot onto a racetrack until he was aged 3.
These trio of successes have also prompted horse racing fans to already compare him to the mighty unbeaten Frankel, who also on the Dewhurst Stakes back in 2010.
While these comparisons were given even more weight when City Of Troy’s trainer, Aidan O’Brien, declared after the Dewhurst that he’s the best 2 year-old he’s trained.
That Dewhurst win for Aidan O’Brien saw him become the joint equal winning trainer of all time in the race with 8 wins. He joins John Porter and Frank Butters on this tally.
Johannesburg Still The Top-Rated Ballydoyle Juvenile Of All Time
So, if City Of Troy’s new rating of 125 is to be believed, then O’Brien isn’t far off the mark with his statement as the best youngster he’s trained. But is still playing second-fiddle to Johannesburg – another US-bred horse, that won 7 of his 10 starts – including four Group Ones and the 2001 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Belmont Park (watch below).
Johannesburg’s career, however, tailed-off when trained on as a 3 year-old with not a single win from three more outings. Therefore, City Of Troy’s connections will know just what a fine line these young equine stars are on and certainly won’t be getting carried away just yet.
