In 2022, LadBaby broke the chart record they previously shared with the Beatles by landing a fifth No 1 Christmas single in a row. YouTubers Mark and Roxanne Hoyle covered the Band Aid classic ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ and rewrote the lyrics around the theme of sausage rolls.
All proceeds from LadBaby’s Christmas singles benefit the Trussell Trust, which works to stop hunger and poverty in the UK whilst also operating a network of food banks.
‘Food Aid’ followed previous singles ‘Sausage Rolls for Everyone ft. Ed Sheeran and Elton John,’ ‘Don’t Stop Me Eatin,’ ‘I Love Sausage Rolls,’ and ‘We Built This City.’
There has been increased market support in recent days for The Pogues, with ‘Fairytale of New York’ vocalist Shane MacGowan currently receiving treatment in hospital after being diagnosed with viral encephalitis, a life-threatening condition that causes the brain to swell.
Neil Roarty, Betting Expert at SportsLens, said: “The betting is greatly in LadBaby’s favour once again at a price of 6/4, but it’s close at the top with The Pogues who could land the Christmas No 1 title with ‘Fairytale of New York’ as concerns grow over Shane MacGowan’s health.
“At the start of November, the Beatles’ final song ‘Now And Then’ was released – billed as the band’s ‘final song.’ It was originally written and recorded by John Lennon in the late 1970s, and is sure to give LadBaby and The Pogues a good run for their money.
“Despite not initially intending to even release a fifth Christmas single, it looks as though LadBaby could be set for six in a row.”
