The WBO World Cruiserweight Title is now in the hands of Chris Billam-Smith after he beat former teammate Lawrence Okolie in Bournemouth on May 27th, 2023 as a huge underdog with the best boxing betting sites.

Billam-Smith has had a fantastic career so far. Almost punch perfect. He has gradually stepped up levels each and every time he has fought. He narrowly lost to Richard Riakporhe back in 2019 via split decision in what is the only defeat on his record.
Since then, CBS has picked up a whole host of belts too. He won the Commonwealth Cruiserweight Title against Craig Glover, before claiming the coveted British & European Titles just a fight later against Tommy McCarthy. The only belt left for Billam-Smith to win is a version of the world title.
After winning the European Title, Billam-Smith defended the belt on three occasions before vacating the belt after defeating Chamberlain in Bournemouth last July. His hometown on the south coast has been good to him. The only time he fought in Bournemouth was indeed last year, winning a brilliant fight and sending the crowd into raptures.
Billam-Smith has achieved it all at cruiserweight. He became world champion at the first time of asking in 2023 on a historic night in Bournemouth sporting moments. ‘The Gentleman’ knocked Lawrence Okolie down three times on his way to a majority decision victory, becoming world champion in front of him hometown fans.

He then successfully defended his belt at the back end of 2023, again in his hometown of Bournemouth, defeating Mateusz Masternak. The Polish fighter retired in his corner at the end of the seventh round, meaning Billam-Smith successfully defended his world title.
Now, an all-British rematch clash with Richard Riakporhe for Billam-Smith’s next fight – the sole defeat on CBS’s resumé. The fight has been signed an announced, with a date pending. The fight is sure to be an entertaining one, and one that British fight fans are desperate to see again.
