Chelsea Want Victor Osimhen In Summer
Chelsea have begun measuring the possibility of a pre-agreement with Victor Osimhen for next summer before deciding on signing a striker in January.
Osimhen is high on the wish list at Stamford Bridge as they contemplate the signing of a premium striker that elevates their standing in the game.
The Blues’ top scorers are currently Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer – tied on eight goals – and while there is an expectation that they improve their output now that Christopher Nkunku is back in the mix, there is still a feeling that they will need a new striker eventually.
Osimhen recently signed a new contract at Napoli and the chances of him making a transfer this month are slim-to-none. Yet next summer is likely to be a different situation, as clauses in his contract make him more attainable then and the prospect of setting up a deal ahead of time could also become plausible.
It is believed intermediaries have recently been checking out the situation so that Chelsea have a clear understanding of the position while they weigh up this current window.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have also been linked with Ivan Toney of Brentford but would wait for Osimhen if that feels more achievable.
Blues Could Need Players To Leave First
The early stage of this window is viewed as a period when Chelsea also get a good reading of how many players might leave them and how much money they are likely to bring in.
Ian Maatsen, Alfie Gilchrist and Conor Gallagher are the most talked about names in terms of an exit but because of the size of the squad it is obviously realistic that other players are also targeted.
In the second half of the month Chelsea are then set to become more serious about targeting players they think can make a difference to them.
Girona striker Arter Dovbyk has been linked with the Blues recently but that story has been played down.
