With a Champions League trip to Real Madrid on the horizon, Frank Lampard has confirmed the Chelsea team news.
The former England midfielder spent 13 years with the club, making over 429 appearances. Lampard has already managed the club once between 2019-2021. He failed in that spell, but his toughest task will come in this second spell as Chelsea manager. The team are 11th in the Premier League and facing La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Chelsea Team News: Lampard Speaks About N’Golo Kante, Thiago Silva and Mason Mount
Ahead of the clash, Lampard has spoken to the media about who will be available for his Chelsea side.
Thiago Silva has been a big miss at the back for Chelsea. The Brazilian offers a calmness along with great leadership. Lampard has said that Silva is back ready for the trip to Madrid.
Mason Mount, a favourite of Lampard’s at Derby County and Chelsea, is also set to return. He’s missed the last six games, but he’s ready to return to action as well.
When asked, Lampard told the media:
“They’re all fit,
“The players you mentioned are all in the squad [for tomorrow], they’re good, and they’re here.”
Another player who was mentioned during the press conference was N’Golo Kante. The Frenchmen has made a steady return to the team after a long injury. His return has been well welcomed by fans and teammates alike. Speaking about the role Kante could have for the team despite his injury issues, Lampard said:
“N’Golo is a special player.
“I understand what you mean about consistency and the problems he has had with injuries.
“But in terms of coming back and playing at a really high level… I’ve witnessed him.
“He did it for me the Super Cup final against Liverpool a couple of years ago. Passed a fitness test and was the best player on the pitch for 120 minutes.
“He has the capacity to do that, because he is a special player. Hopefully he can do that again for us.”
