In a season that saw Chelsea part ways with two managers despite spending upwards of £600million, the Blues ended the Premier League campaign in a bitterly disappointing 12th place in 2022/23. The 2023/24 Chelsea Premier League fixtures have been released this morning, as new boss Mauricio Pochettino looks to turn the club around and get the best out of their incredibly expensive squad.
Chelsea suffered a terrible Premier League season in 2022/23, finishing 12th whilst parting ways with both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.
Since then, Frank Lampard was appointed on a temporary basis, before Mauricio Pochettino was appointed to steer the ship for the foreseeable future.
The former Tottenham boss will have plenty of new players to get the best out of, with up to 10 players expected to depart the club in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
After last season’s chaotic schedule with the World Cup squashed half way through the season, the schedule returns to its usual format, except for the introduction of a winter break.
Like many top European leagues, the Premier League will now have a week long break in the winter to give players a rest due to the jam-packed schedules throughout the term, which will take place between January 13th-20th.
Aside from those minor changes in the winter, the traditional late summer start date around mid-August remains the same, with Chelsea’s opening fixture at home to Liverpool on Sunday 13th August kicking off a hugely important season.
The Blues’ final day fixture against Bournemouth is scheduled to be a full nine days before this year’s prolonged date, with the season wrapping up on the 19th May, 2024.
