According to reports, Chelsea have opened talks with Arsenal over a move for American international, Folarin Balogun, after a successful loan in Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old had superb 2022-23 campaign for Stade de Reims, scoring 22 goals and assisting 3 in 39 appearances for the French side.

These performances have caught the eye from a host of potential suitors and Chelsea are reportedly in negotiations to sign the Arsenal academy graduate.

The Gunners have signed key players this summer, with Kai Havertz and Declan Rice both signing for Mikel Arteta’s side – provided the latter passes all medical tests.

Adding a host of players to the squad could see multiple departures in the coming weeks and the American youngster may be one of the potential exits.

Chelsea had a disappointing campaign last year and have already seen the likes of Mason Mount, Kalidou Koulibaly and N’Golo Kante leave the club.

The Blues had a catastrophic campaign, as they finished 12th in the Premier League and recorded the lowest points tally in the club’s history.

Former Brighton manager, Graham Potter, was hired in September and was sacked after just six-months following a poor run of results.

His replacement, Frank Lampard, was unable to improve life at Stamford Bridge and the Blues ended the season without a single victory over any side in the top six.

This poor performance has made summer signings a priority, as Chelsea are reportedly set to continue their huge spending that saw them bring in over £500m worth of players in the last two windows.

Being the biggest spenders over recent windows may be pivotal when agreeing a deal for Balogun, as the youngster has two-years remaining on his current deal at the Emirates.

Meaning he could cost the Blues up to £50m and would join the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, and Malo Gusto as summer additions.
