Despite losing last night’s crucial Premier League clash 2-1, Chelsea’s midfield pairing of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo cost a ridiculous 26x more than Manchester United’s pairing of Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat.
What Happened In The Manchester United Vs. Chelsea Game?
Following what has proven to be a tough fortnight for Manchester United, in which the club has underperformed on the pitch and has suffered reports of discontent off it, the Red Devils needed a big performance against fellow rollercoaster club, Chelsea.
And that is what they got. Having missed an early penalty through Bruno Fernandes, United peppered Robert Sanchez in the Chelsea goal and racked up an impressive 28 attempts, per Sky Sports.
Despite this, United struggled to make the breakthrough. However, a brace from Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay earned Manchester United the all-important victory after a dominant display.
Manchester United now sit a 8 points ahead of the Blues, despite Chelsea’s midfield pairing of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo costing a whopping £213m more than Manchester United’s pairing of Sofyan Amrabat and McTominay.

Chelsea’s Midfield Pairing 26x More Expensive Than Manchester United’s
Since Todd Boehly’s takeover of Chelsea in 2022, the club have spent upwards of £1b, according to Sky Sports, and have dwarfed their Premier League rivals in terms of spending.
Inlcuded in this was Chelsea’s starting midfield pairing in last night’s loss to Manchester United, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
Fernandez, who has reportedly been considering a move away from Chelsea, was signed for £106.8m in January 2023 following the Argentinian’s standout displays at the 2022 World Cup, while Caicedo signed for £115m from Brighton after a drawn-out and dramatic transfer saga in the summer.

On the flip side, Manchester United’s midfield pairing of Sofyan Amrabat and match-winner Scott McTominay were considerably cheaper.
Amrabat joined the club in the summer for £8.5m on season-long loan deal, while Scott McTominay progressed through the academy ranks and therefore officially costs the club £0.
Manchester United face Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Saturday, while Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture is a tough away trip to face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
