Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is eager to help former Tottenham star Dele Alli following a disappointing few seasons since falling out of favour at Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino Wants To Help Dele Alli

Alli has had a spectacular fall from grace in the last few years after he was once one of the best young midfielders in the world. Pochettino coached him at Spurs and helped him become one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents.

When playing under the Argentine, Alli won back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards in 2015-16 and 2016-17. He scored 18 goals and recorded 11 assists in the 2016-17 season a year after registering 10 goals and 12 assists in his debut top flight campaign.

However since Pochettino left Spurs, Alli’s career took a turn for the worst. Spells at Everton and Besiktas have not quite worked out, but he is still a Toffees player, and Sean Dyche will likely give him a chance to prove himself in pre-season.

Pochettino was speaking about Dele Alli and said he wants to speak to him to find out “what is going on” after a tricky couple of seasons.

“I hope to have some time to call and see because he is a great guy,” the Argentine said. “I want to talk a bit with him. I want to help him and see what is going on.

“He’s still young. For sure, he has the mentality.”

The 27-year-old could do with a crucial talk with his former coach in hope his career gets back on the right track.
