Carl Froch has criticised Anthony Joshua and his team for wanting a rematch clause if he is to fight Dillian Whyte for a second time in the pro ranks. ‘The Cobra’ believes that Team AJ wanting a rematch shows they are worried he may lose the fight.

‘They’re Worried AJ Might Lose’ – Carl Froch

With rumours that Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte could well fight for the second time in the professional ranks on August 12th, Carl Froch has weighed-in with his opinion on the fight.

There have been murmurs that if the fight is to happen, there could be a rematch clause in the contract if Joshua is to lose the fight. Having already defeated Whyte back in December 2015, it seems that Team AJ aren’t as confident this time around of their man winning the fight, hence the potential rematch clause.

Carl Froch, the former super-middleweight world champion, believes that the only reason a rematch clause is being spoken about for a potential Whyte fight is that Joshua’s team aren’t 100% confident that he wins the fight.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Froch On Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ said, “That fight doesn’t need a rematch clause. That tells me they don’t really want the fight.

“They know it’s risky and are worried that AJ might lose. It just tells me that Anthony Joshua probably isn’t that confident.”

Whether the fight happens on August 12th or not remains to be seen. There have been other potential opponents for Joshua thrown into the mix. The likes of Otto Wallin and Jarrell Miller are names that have been mentioned for this August date with Joshua too.

If the Dillian Whyte rematch is to happen almost eight years on from their first battle, Froch is adamant that there is no need for a rematch clause. Only time will tell if this fight even gets made, or if Joshua may well wait until December for the rumoured fight with American heavyweight, Deontay Wilder.
