Carl Frampton has sparked a few perplexed boxing fans into action on social media, after claiming Francis Ngannou is 5-0 after four rounds, despite an even contest up to that point.
Granted UFC veteran-turned boxing novice Francis Ngannou sprung a heavy hook on Tyson Fury to send the lineal heavyweight champion to the canvas, and register a shock knockdown in the third.
However, much of the fight up to and including the fourth round had been both fighters largely keeping their distance, with the odd shimmy and jab threatening to spark it into action.
TNT co-commentator and former boxer Carl Frampton chimed in with his take while covering the match, handing all of the first four rounds to underdog Francis Ngannou.
This came much to the surprise of the viewers at home, who believe it was far closer than Frampton’s estimations.
To make matters worse for Frampton however, who has been accused of talking nonsense by some viewers, he also claimed that Ngannou was five rounds up after just four rounds.
He would later go on to hand Fury the fifth and sixth, but as the fight enters a surprising latter stage, those on-lookers at home who ridiculed Frampton may regress.
Not many, if any, would have had Ngannou going into a 10th and final round with arguably the sport’s greatest heavyweight, and the story of the night so far has split option on X (formerly Twitter).
Five rounds down? I’ll have some of what Frampton is smoking. I’ve no love for Fury but Ngannou has done nothing but the knockdown 🤷🏻♂️ #furyvsngannou

Ngannou’s gassed but I still can’t believe Frampton said Ngannou was 5-0 up in 5 rounds 🤣
