Manchester City continue their Champions League journey on Tuesday night and they have their eyes set on breaking a record held by Bayern Munich for longest win streak in the competition.

Manchester City Chasing 15 Consecutive Champions League Wins

The record for most consecutive wins in the Champions League is currently held by Bayern Munich, who were able to put together a 15 game win streak during the 2019/20 campaign.

During their 15 wins Bayern claimed their sixth Champions League title, with victory over PSG in the 2020 final securing the trophy at the end of a dominant run.

Through the 2020 season Bayern won 11 games in a row, securing victories in every one of their matches. The Bundesliga giants continued their unbeaten record in the next season, extending the record to 15 victories.

Now Manchester City have their eyes on breaking the record, as they look to assert their dominance on the Champions League following their first title last year.

City’s current winning streak extends to eight games in the competition, as the last time Pep Guardiola’s side dropped points in Europe was in the 22/23 semi final (0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid).

If City can retain their title this year and win every game, they will tie Bayern Munich’s win record with 15 in a row. Although, Bayern look like one of the strongest forces in Europe this season and they could be the ones to stop City repeating last years triumph.

Guardiola and City’s title defence this year kicked off with a convincing unbeaten group stage, as City won all six of their group G games to lengthen their current win streak to eight games.

City may still trail Bayern in the record books, but their group stage win over Red Star Belgrade in December earned the Premier League champions the record for longest win streak in Europe by any English team in history.

Guardiola and co can add to their already impressive run in the Champions League tonight, as they take on Copenhagen away in the first round of the knockouts.

City have already faced Copenhagen twice in the Champions League, with an aggregate score of 5-0 to the English side over last year’s two group games.
