Bukayo Saka became the youngest player to score two goals on his World Cup debut for England on Monday, as his brace helped the Three Lions cruise to victory over Iran.
England finally kicked off their World Cup campaign on Monday and they certainly did it with some style, as the Three Lions mauled Iran 6-2.
The goals were shared out between Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka, who’s brace was enough to earn the youngster the man of the match award on his World Cup debut.

Saka’s second was a cool finish, as the winger cut inside his man from the right and buried the ball into the bottom left with ease, but it was Saka’s first goal that really caught the eye, as the 21-year-old drove a volley high into the roof of the net after picking up a loose ball from a corner.

The brace for Saka makes the Arsenal man the youngest player (21 years, 77 days) to score two goals on his World Cup debut since Franz Beckenbauer in 1966 (20 years, 304 days).
Saka’s brace also meant he overtook an English legend in World Cup scoring, with Wayne Rooney trailing behind the Arsenal man on just one goal at the tournament through his career.
With at least two group games still to play, you certainly wouldn’t back against Saka to net another before the tournament is over and having impressed so much on Monday, you would expect that the starlet has cemented his position in the starting 11.
Saka will be eyeing up England’s next match already following his man of the match performance and the Three Lions have a trickier clash win the horizon, as they take on the USMNT later this week.
