Brighton vs Tottenham (4-2) Report: Brighton Back On Winning Terms With Huge Win
Brighton came into tonight’s Premier League clash with Spurs looking to get back in the win column after three games without victory, following a loss vs Arsenal and draws vs Crystal Palace and Burnley.
Tottenham were fresh off the back of three consecutive wins but found themselves on the back foot straightaway when Jack Hinshelwood put Brighton ahead after 11 minutes, netting his second goal of the campaign.
Ten minutes later, Danny Welbeck won a penalty for Brighton which Joao Pedro converted to double their lead and send the Seagulls into the interval with a 2-0 advantage.
Pervis Estupinan sent the home crowd into oblivion with Brighton’s third of the match shortly after the hour mark, before Joao Pedro converted his second spot-kick of the night to make it four.
Alejo Veliz and Ben Davies scored two consolation goals for the visitors inside the final ten minutes but it was to no avail as Brighton claimed a huge win at home to stay within touching distance of the European spots.
The result leaves Brighton in eighth on 30 points, six points adrift Tottenham in fifth place.
What Next For Brighton & Tottenham?
Up next for Brighton is a trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham on Tuesday night at 7:30pm. When these two sides met earlier this season in August, West Ham won 3-1 at the Amex Stadium.
As for Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou’s side will now look towards Sunday’s clash at home with Bournemouth. Their three-game win streak has come to an end – which was considerably impressive considering the injuries they’ve had to deal with in recent times.
