For the first time in their history, Brighton will be playing European football alongside their domestic competitions in England. The Seagulls finished last season in sixth place, and now, the 2023/24 Brighton Premier League fixtures have been released as they prepare for their maiden Europa League campaign.
After losing Graham Potter to Chelsea early on in the season, Brighton still managed to have an incredible Premier League campaign last season under the guidance of Roberto De Zerbi.
The emergence of the likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Julio Enciso and Moises Caicedo inspired the Seagulls to an unlikely sixth place finish, securing qualification for the Europa League for the first time in their history.
However, since the culmination of the season, Brighton have lost star-man Alexis Mac Allister, and are tipped to lose Caicedo too, leaving a need for action to be taken in the transfer market in order to deal with the pressures of playing in Europe alongside their domestic competitions.
After last season’s chaotic schedule with the World Cup squashed half way through the season, the schedule returns to its usual format, except for the introduction of a winter break.
Like many top European leagues, the Premier League will now have a week long break in the winter to give players a rest due to the jam-packed schedules throughout the term, which will take place between January 13th-20th.
Aside from those minor changes in the winter, the traditional late summer start date around mid-August remains the same, with Brighton’s opening fixture on August 12th against Luton Town kicking off a hugely important season.
The Seagulls’ final day fixture is against Manchester United at home and is scheduled to be a full nine days before this year’s prolonged date, with the season wrapping up on the 19th May, 2024.
