Bournemouth are on the verge of completing a deal for Roma winger Justin Kluivert for an initial fee of £9.5m which could rise to £10.25m with add-ons.

The son of the legendary Patrick Kluivert is set to become Bournemouth’s first signing under new manager Andoni Iraola who was appointed on Monday.

Kluivert is reportedly set to join the Premier League side on a five-year-deal.

He came through the ranks of the Ajax youth system like his father Patrick, before moving on from his boyhood club in 2018.

Kluivert signed for Roma and has since had single season loan spells at RB Leipzig, Nice and Valencia. However, he failed to make an impression at any of those clubs, so a move to the Premier League could prove to be different.

The Cherries were comfortably guided to safety last season by Gary O’Neil, who did a brilliant job after initially only taking the job as the caretaker manager. O’Neil was given the permanent job to reward his efforts, but was shockingly dismissed earlier on this week – much to the shock of many. Iraola was seemingly already lined up to take over and was announced later on in the day.

Iraola led Rayo Vallecano back to the La Liga in his first season before two back-to-back mid-table finishes, which impressed the Bournemouth board.

Kluivert is now expected to be the Spaniard’s first signing on the South Coast.
