After being heavily linked with a move to either Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona throughout the summer, Bernardo Silva has reportedly verbally agreed to sign a new contract with Manchester City.

Having been tipped for an Etihad exit throughout the summer, Bernardo Silva has reportedly agreed to sign a new contract with Manchester City.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have been heavily linked with the Portuguese international for the last few transfer windows, however he now looks set to extend his stay with the English champions.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, who revealed on Wednesday afternoon that the 29-year-old had verbally agreed to a new deal, and has confirmed his decision to the club.

According to Romano, Silva’s new deal will keep him at the club until June 2026.

“Bernardo Silva has now verbally agreed to sign new contract at Manchester City — formally confirmed his decision to the club,” Romano tweeted.

“City expect Bernardo to sign contracts by the end of next week.

“Understand new deal will be valid until June 2026.”

Silva, along with Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte, were expected by many to be further major departures from Pep Guardiola’s squad, following Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez out the door.

When asked about the prospective departures of Silva and Walker, Guardiola admitted that it would be incredibly difficult to replace them, and confirmed that they’d ‘do everything’ in their power to keep the pair – and they look to have done just that.

With talks of Walker’s exit to Bayern Munich quietened, and with Silva expected to extend his stay before the end of the week – the Cityzens’ hopes of retaining their iconic treble looks to have been dealt a major boost.
