Bayern Munich are interested in signing Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo on a permanent basis as the full-back gets off to a flying start in Germany.
The Portugal international has hit the ground running in Germany, providing two assists in his first two matches and helping his new team to victory. Cancelo found himself out of favour under Pep Guardiola following an unimpressive World Cup and a run of poor performances in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old made his debut for the current Bundesliga champions as they faced Mainz in the DFB-Pokal. Within the first twenty minutes, the full-back picked out Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting who finished accordingly. Cancelo then contributed once again on his league debut, as he put it on a plate for Kingsley Coman.

Manchester City agreed to loan the Portugeuse star to Bayern which includes an option to buy at the end of the loan spell for around £62.8m. However even with Bayern showing real intent on signing Cancelo, the club are not confident on completion as the fee is too high.
Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said: “We also told him clearly that this sum is difficult for us to imagine in the next few years. But I have also learned if all sides absolutely want a common solution, you can also manage it in the end. He knows that he has been one of our dream players for years.”
