According to reports, Barcelona are interested in signing Newcastle midfielder, Bruno Gunimaraes, despite the La Liga side’s recent financial troubles.
The Magpies are flying this season, as they sit third in the Premier League table. Eddie Howe has transformed life in Tyneside and looks on track ti finish in the top four.
One player that has been symbolic of Newcastle’s superb performances, is Brazilian international, Bruno Guimaraes, who signed for the Toon in January last year for £40m.
The former Lyon star has made 28 appearances this season, contributing to 8 goals and has established himself at the heart of the midfield.
Due to these consistent performances, Guimaraes has attracted interest from a host of clubs. Including European giants, Barcelona, who are on the cusp of reclaiming the La Liga title.

Xavi’s side are currently top of La Liga, sitting pretty above their fierce Madrid rivals. The Spaniard looks set to win his first league title of his managerial career, a trophy he won several times as a player.
The Catalan club have failed to perform in European competitions, being eliminated from the Champions League group stages and Europa League round of 16 play-off.
Due to these performances, Barca are reportedly looking to strengthen, in hopes of competing throughout the European tournaments. However, recent financial issues could be a stumbling block as they look to bolster in the summer.
A move for the Newcastle midfielder is reportedly in the works for 2024, after the club confirmed that long-time servant, Sergio Busquets, will leave the club at the end of the season.
With the Spanish veteran leaving, and Frenkie de Jong still involved in a transfer saga with Manchester United, a midfield addition may be key for La Liga’s table-toppers.
