According to reports, Barcelona are still keen on signing Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan amid murmurs from the German’s agent.
Gundogan joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, and has since made over 200 appearances for the club, scoring 54 goals and providing 38 assists.
He has been a key player for Guardiola’s side in recent seasons, and his performances have caught the attention of several top clubs around Europe.
The German’s contract runs out in the summer and with a new deal yet to be negotiated, he could be on his way out of Manchester. The Citizens look set to retain their Premier League title and may be looking for alternatives in the transfer window.

Barcelona are enjoying a successful domestic season, the Catalan side sit top of La Liga and have beaten fierce rivals, Real Madrid, on three separate occasions.
However, Xavi’s side will be disappointed with their performance on the European stage, after their group stage exit in the Champions League. Barca then continued this disappointment and were knocked out of the Europa League by Manchester United.
Adding a player of Gundogan’s quality would boost the club’s chances in Europe, but with Barcelona’s financial issues it may be a difficult deal to finalise.
It remains to be seen whether Gundogan will make the move to Barcelona this summer. His ability to control the midfield, contribute goals and create chances, means he could be the perfect addition to Xavi’s squad as they look to improve next season.
