Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on Manchester United star, Jadon Sancho, after the 23-year-old has dropped out of the squad due to disciplinary issues.

The Spanish giants are said to be ‘attentive’ on Jadon Sancho’s current situation in Manchester, which has reached breaking point over the last few weeks.

Following Arsenal’s victory over the Red Devils, manager Erik ten Hag was asked why Sancho, who signed for the club back in 2021, was not in the match day squad.

The Dutchman replied: “Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”

In response to this, the former Borussia Dortmund player released a post on Twitter claiming he has been up to scratch in training and has been ‘scapegoated’ for a long time.

Reports now suggest that after a few weeks have passed since the initial controversy, Sancho has refused to apologise to the United manager and has been sent to train with the academy for the foreseeable future – starting rumours over a possible exit.

Barcelona are one of the clubs interested in signing the Englishman, as Xavi’s side are looking to repeat their La Liga triumph from last season.

Joao Felix, Joao Cancelo, Oriol Romeu and Inigo Martinez all signed for the Catalan side this summer, whilst, Ansu Fati left on loan to join Brighton and Hove Albion.

United signed Sancho for around £73m, meaning they are unlikely to loan the winger out and could sell him permanently this January.

However, Barcelona’s recent financial dilemma could put them in a difficult position when trying to negotiate a deal. The summer saw a lot of loan-with-option -to-buy moves occur, which may be the case should Barcelona pursue a transfer.
