According to reports, Barcelona are considering a move for Luis Diaz with the Spanish giants hoping £70m will lure Liverpool into selling the Colombian.
Injuries have impacted the Liverpool winger’s performances this season, missing 19 games with a knee injury he suffered in October. His last 90 minutes came in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Everton all the way back in September.
However, Diaz has still contributed to five goals in only eight appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side and was a key member in the Reds’ Champions League run last year. Scoring five goals in the competition last season, he showed why Liverpool brought him in.
His performances prior to the injury has attracted interest from potential suitors, with reports stating that Barcelona are interested in the 26-year-old. Xavi’s side are top of La Liga, eleven points ahead of their fierce rivals, Real Madrid.
The Catalan side are in a difficult situation financially, which even resulted in star midfielder, Gavi, being removed from the first-team due to contract issues. He has not been registered but the fiasco highlighted the troubles within Barcelona.

The La Liga side have also been charged with corruption after allegedly paying over £6.4m from 2001-2018 to firms owned by ex-vice-president of Spain’s referees’ committee, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira. Meaning there may be complications in the future.
Adding to the list of financial issues, Barcelona could be facing a ‘transfer ban’ this summer and are yet to find a way to avoid the punishment. This would make the signing of Diaz impossible, however the club are confident they can resolve things.
With players being rumoured to join, there will need to be some adjusting with existing members of the squad. Former Leeds winger, Raphinha, signed last year but is yet to win over the hearts of supporters and his place in the squad could be used make room for Diaz.
