Atletico Madrid midfielder, Marcos Llorente, has reportedly agreed a move to Saudi Arabia despite heavy interest from European sides.

The Saudi Arabian side in question is summer ‘big-spenders’ Al Ahli, who have already agreed huge deals for Edouard Mendy, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Next in line for the Saudi Arabian club is Spanish international, Marcos Llorente and Atletico Madrid‘s pre-season plans have been hit with a huge shock following this news.

It is understood that Diego Simeone was counting on the midfielder for the 2023-24 season, until his head was turned by a very lucrative offer to entice him to ever-progressing nature.

Now, according to recent reports, Al-Ahli are closing in on a £20m move for 28-year-old and could agree a deal in the coming days.

As Saudi Arabia prepare to bid for a future World Cup, the nation have welcomed an abundance of top talent in hopes of strengthening their chances.

A host of Europe’s best players have moved to Saudi Arabia this summer, after Cristiano Ronaldo paved the way in January as he signed for Al-Nassr from Manchester United.

Current Balon D’Or winner, Karim Benzema, ended his long spell at Real Madrid and joined Al-Ittihad – in a deal that is set to earn the Frenchman £100m a year.

The latest player to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia is Kylian Mbappe, however, the Frenchman rejected the oportunity despite PSG accepting a £250m bid for the global superstar – in a deal that would have earned the youngster £650m a year.

Llorente has four-years remaining on his current deal in Spain, at the club he has achieved great success at – winning La Liga and making 150 appearances.
