Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante with the Frenchman’s contract coming to an end.
Kante has been plagued by injury this season, making only two league appearances this season. The 31-year-old is into the last five months of his contract and Europe’s top clubs are keeping a close eye with a renewal at Chelsea looking unlikely.
Barcelona have been keen to sign Kante since the summer window, but according to reports their Spanish counter-parts, Atletico Madrid have joined the race for the France international. Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the midfielder.
Diego Simeone’s side find themselves in fourth place and are 18 points behind league leaders Barcelona. Poor results and repeated injuries have left the Spanish side 150/1 to win the title, according to UK betting sites. Meaning the signing of Kante would be a welcomed addition.

Graham Potter is yet to have the Frenchman available but has previously explained how he is a fan of the two-time Premier League winner regardless of the current contract issues.
Potter said: “It’s not my place to speak publicly about players’ contract situations. He’s been top with us, with me, great guy, happy around the place. In terms of his contract it’s not for me to comment”
With Chelsea’s recent transfer business reaching over £500m, Todd Boehly will be looking to offload a large number of players, leaving Atletico Madrid and numerous other clubs on high alert.
