Aston Villa Leading Race To Sign Harvey Barnes Amid Leicester City Exit Rumours

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City winger, Harvey Barnes, as rumours of a summer exit start to circulate.

The Villains have had a terrific second half of the season, as Unai Emery has revitalised life at Villa Park following Steven Gerrard’s departure.

A run of five matches unbeaten between March and April has seen the Midlands-based side push for a European place, however, due to Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City, European football is now impossible.

On the other hand, Leicester City have had a catastrophic season and relegation is now out of their hands, as an Everton win would see Championship football return to the King Power.

The possibility of relegation could see a host of star players leave the club, with Harvey Barnes rumoured to be leaving this summer.

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in landing the English winger, in a move that could cost Unai Emery’s side up to £45m.

The former West Brom player has made 33 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring 12 goals for Dean Smith’s side.

These impressive performances have not been enough to keep the Foxes safe and Barnes will need to show this quality against West Ham on Sunday.

The Hammers are another side that are reportedly interested in the 25-year-old and the departure of Declan Rice may open up funds to land the Leicester star.

Any transfer may face a stumbling block, as Barnes is under contract until 2025 after signing a four-year deal in August 2021.
