Aston Villa are one of many sides holding an interest in signing Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson, and could move for him this summer.

Brennan Johnson: On The Move?

Ahead of the upcoming transfer window, Johnson has interest from several clubs including Villa who appear to be the most serious about signing him.

Unai Emery is keen to bolster the Villains’ squad over the coming weeks as he prepares the club for a monumental return to European football.

The Spaniard took over the club when they were sitting just above the relegation zone and terrifically guided them to a seventh-place finish.

Villa have already agreed terms with Youri Tielemans on a free transfer after he left relegated Leicester City, and look to be closing in on another free transfer in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Now it looks as if the West Midlands based club are eyeing another Premier League-proven player in Brennan Johnson.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the top flight, helping Forest to avoid relegation. He scored eight times in the Premier League and provided three assists. Pep Guardiola is also reportedly keen on bringing him to Manchester City.

Johnson is valued at £40m by Forest, with Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa all ready to battle it out for his signature this summer.

However, it’s no secret that the Wales international loves it at the City Ground, having joined the club in 2009, aged just eight.

It may be hard to prize him away from a club that means so much to him. But, Villa and the Hammers both have European football to play next season, so that could be a huge selling point.
