Aston Villa’s late push for a Top Four finish has been boosted after the Villains’ 1-0 victory against Premier League high-flyers, Fulham.
- Unai Emery’s side came into the game having been unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches and they got off to a flying start.
- Tyrone Mings’ header in the 21st minute gave the hosts the lead, which came against the run of play as Fulham threatened in the early stages.
- The away side failed to grow back into the game after going behind and the half came to a close with Villa in front.
- Neither side got a hold of proceedings and the match started to dwindle until Ollie Watkins’ 7oth minute effort sparked some life back into the game.
- Mings almost went from zero to hero, as the ball deflected off his long limbs and into his own net. However, after an intervention from VAR the goal was chalked off.
- Fulham huffed and puffed but it was to no avail and Villa moved up into fifth with only five games left to play.
3 corners later… 😅

Will Aston Villa Finish In The Top Four?
The Villains are in a superb run of form, beating the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and now Fulham, who occupy the places around Unai Emery’s side. The former Arsenal manager was brought in after Steven Gerrard was made surplus to requirements.
Champions League football seemed like a dream for supporters at the start of the season, however after today’s victory Aston Villa find themselves five points from achieving that dream.
However, the Midlands side have played 33 matches so far, three more than Manchester United in fourth and two more than Newcastle United in 3rd.
Emery’s side will take on Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture, with anything other than a victory ending their chances of Champions League qualification.
