Aston Villa Approach Nottingham Forest Over Brennan Johnson With Lucas Digne Swap Deal

Aston Villa are reportedly willing to offer defender, Lucas Digne, to Nottingham Forest in hopes of landing Welsh star, Brennan Johnson.

Unai Emery turned things around at Villa Park after Steven Gerrard was sacked due to a run of poor results. The former Arsenal manager guided the club to European football for the first time in 13 years.

Competing in Europe has made summer additions a necessity and Emery’s side have already agreed their first deal of the window, as Youri Tielemans will join the club following relegation with Leicester City.

However, Premier League veteran Ashley Young left the club despite being a key member in Unai Emery’s squad last year, as he move to Everton.

Equally, the Midlands-based side are plotting moves for a variety of summer additions and are reportedly prioritising the addition of Nottingham Forest attacker, Brennan Johnson.

The move is said to be structured as a potential swap-deal, with French international and Aston Villa defender, Lucas Digne, going the other way.

The Welshman has made 105 appearances for the Trees, scoring 29 and assisting 12 in the process. Johnson was also pivotal in the club’s return to the Premier League – where they found some success in their opening campaign.

Steve Cooper’s side managed to avoid relegation with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the latter stages of the season and are set for a tough 2023-24 campaign.

Last year’s loanee, Renan Lodi, will not return to the City Ground, as the Brazilian defender has signed for Marseille from Atletico Madrid.

Johnson has three-years remaining on his current deal and it may take more than a Lucas Digne swap deal to entice the club into selling their star man.
