Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard has withdrawn from Belgium’s squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers after sustaining a hamstring injury during Sunday’s clash against Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta has faced plenty of injury concerns so far this season, and this was highlighted once more at the weekend as Bukayo Saka missed out on the crunch clash against treble-winners Manchester City.
Luckily for Arsenal though, they managed to secure a crucial 1-0 victory late-on thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s deflected effort off the back of Nathan Ake. Martinelli himself had only just returned from injury, being introduced as a substitute at the start of the second-half after spending almost three weeks on the sidelines.
The Brazilian came on in place of Leandro Trossard, who was forced off due to a hamstring problem, and following further assessment, the 28-year-old has been forced to withdraw from Belgium’s squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Austria and Sweden.

This comes following confirmation that fellow-Gunner William Saliba has also withdrawn from the France squad for their upcoming matches after suffering a toe injury against the Cityzens.
Saka is another who is expected to withdraw from international duty after Arteta ruled him out of England’s clashes against Australia and Italy on Sunday, however the 22-year-old will still report to St. George’s Park to be assessed by the English medical team regardless.
Trossard, Saliba and Saka join Jurrien Timber on Arsenal’s injury list, with the Dutch defender expected to miss the majority of the campaign after sustaining an ACL injury during the Gunners’ opening game of the season against Nottingham Forest.
