Gunners fans could have the chance to see their heroes from Arsenal’s Invincibles season in 2004 take to the field once again, as plans for a commemorative friendly get underway.

Arsenal’s Invincible Season

Arsenal last won the Premier League title in 2004, back when the like sof Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Sol Campbell were all in their prime.

However, what made the Gunners Premier League campaign so spectacular was the fact they managed to go the entire season unbeaten.

Winning 26 games and drawing 12, Arsenal completed an unprecedented feat, one that is still yet to be repeated in the Premier League.

For the fans old enough to remember their side’s Invincible season, they may be able to witness their heroes from that campaign playing together once again.

According to The Athletic, planning is already underway for a commemorative game to take place at the Emirates next year: “To mark the 20th anniversary of Arsenal winning the 2003-04 Premier League without losing a single game, representatives of that title-winning squad are holding talks with the intention of playing a commemorative friendly game in 2024.

“Planning is in its early stages. The venue, date and opponent are yet to be confirmed, but discussions are currently centred around holding the game at the Emirates Stadium.

“Several of the team’s stars have already informally confirmed their willingness to play.

“There are still significant logistical hurdles to clear but there’s a willingness on all sides to find a special way way to celebrate 20 years since Arsenal’s unique achievement.

Since Arsenal’s Invincible season back in 2004, a Premier League title has evaded them. Although, with Mikel Arteta’s side currently sitting 2nd in the league 1-point behind leaders Liverpool, Gunners fans will be hoping they will have the opportunity to witness two Premier League winning side’s at the Emirates in 2024.
