Arsenal vs Everton Preview

The league leaders will hope to restore a five point lead over Manchester City on Wednesday evening, although they face one of only three sides to beat them this season. Below you can find a comprehensive Arsenal vs Everton preview, complete with the most up-to-date teams news, latest odds and predictions.

Arsenal vs Everton Preview

Arsenal will be well aware of the threat Everton pose to their Premier League title bid, having succumbed to defeat at Goodison Park at the beginning of February.

At the time this was only their second defeat in the league this season, and set in motion a three-game winless run that saw them held at home to Brentford and lose to title rivals Manchester City. In the process, their bid for a first league triumph in nearly 20 years was thrown into doubt, and the opportunity to move 11 points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side was quickly stripped down to just five.

Nevertheless, Mikel Arteta’s side have bounced back with two consecutive wins on the road, first against Aston Villa in a dramatic six-goal injury time victory, before suffocating Leicester at the King Power last time out.

As for the Toffees, Sean Dyche’s reign thus has typified Everton’s inconsistency this term. The win against Arsenal in his first match in the dugout was followed by a lacklustre Merseyside derby defeat, before gaining three crucial points against Leeds. However, they failed to capitalise on several chances against Villa last weekend, and were put to the sword in a 2-0 defeat leaving them a point from safety in 18th.

Arsenal vs Everton Team News

Arsenal manger Mikel Arteta eluded to potential squad rotations in the press this week after January signing Jakub Kiwior and the returning Emile Smith-Rowe featured for the U21 side, saying ‘we are going to need them’ when questioned over players who have had little game time recently.

The Gunners may be cautious over the returning Thomas Partey, who, although featuring as a late substitute against Leicester, could start on the bench once again. Winter addition Jorginho has deputised to great effect thus far, but it remains to be seen whether he keeps his place alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield.

Leoandro Trossard was also preferred to Eddie Nketiah in the central striker role, and the Belgian impressed with an assist and an unfortunate disallowed goal.

Arsenal Line-Up: Ramsdale; White, Gabriel, Saliba, Zinchenko; Xhaka, Jorginho, Odegaard; Trossard, Martinelli, Saka.

Sean Dyche meanwhile will most likely be without striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, meaning Arsenal’s enemy number one in recent years Neil Maupay could feature up front.

Andros Townsend is also still in recovery following a knee problem, so Dwight McNeil and Alex Iwobi will be the chief attacking threats on Wednesday evening.

Everton Line-Up: Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Doucoure, Gueye, Onana; Iwobi, Maupay, McNeil.

Prediction: Arsenal 2 – 0 Everton
