Arsenal are reportedly set to offer Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey, a two-year contract despite recent rumours over a possible exit this summer.

The Gunners are preparing an extended deal for the former Atletico Madrid midfielder, despite speculation of a move away from the Emirates this summer.

Signing Declan Rice for £105m from West Ham added further uncertainty over the future of Partey and rumours over a transfer to Juventus began to circulate.

Granit Xhaka has also left the club as he joins Bayer Leverkusen, ending a seven-year spell in north London and Partey was set next departure this summer.

The 30-year-old has made 99 appearances for the Gunners since signing from Atletico Madrid in 2020, where he won the Europa League and La Liga title.

A host of clubs are still reportedly interested in the tenacious midfielder, however, the Gunners are now keen to offer an extended contract to the Ghana international – after Mikel Arteta’s impressive 2022-23 campaign.

Mikel Arteta will deem the 2022-23 campaign as a successful season, that could have been a historic year, as the club competed in a title race for the first time in just under a decade.

Arteta’s side were top of the table for the majority of the season, boasting an eight-point lead over Manchester City in February. However, they were unable to maintain these performances and ended the season in second place.

Champions League football will return to the Emirates for the first time in seven years, meaning a list of summer additions could be on joining the north London side.

Partey has two-years remaining on his current deal, as his Arsenal contract expires in 2025 and this new extended deal would keep him at the Emirates until 2027.
