Arsenal have seen their Premier League title odds drop yet again this weekend, after Mikel Arteta’s side got back to winning ways two late goals at Villa Park sealing all three points for the Gunners.

  • Ollie Watkins broke through the Arsenal defence and slotted a finish into the bottom left corner to take an early lead
  • Bukayo Saka equalised after just 15 minutes with a venomous volley
  • Philippe Coutinho sent Ramsdale the wrong way with a calm finish to give Villa a lead going into half time
  • Oleksandr Zinchenko equalised just after the hour mark
  • Jorginho hit a rocket in 93rd minute which smashed off the bar and the back of Emi Martinez to give Arsenal the win at the death
  • Gabriel Martinelli doubled the Gunners’ advantage deep into added time

Ollie Watkins burying the ball past Ramsdale just five minutes into the game will certainly not have been part of Mikel Arteta’s plans for this Saturday, however Villa took the lead early on thanks to a cool finish from the Englishman.

Arsenal did not take long to respond however, as Bukayo Saka scored yet again for the Gunners to equalise just 15 minutes into the game with a powerful volley into the roof of the Villa net.

Mikel Arteta was only briefly satisfied however, as the side currently second in the league were pegged back yet again thanks to a composed finish from Philippe Coutinho in the box.

Arsenal came out flying in the second period and Oleksandr Zinchenko was on hand to equalise for the visitors, as Martin Odegaard played a smart corner to the Ukrainian on the edge of the box who made no mistake with a low finish past Emiliano Martinez.

It was Jorginho who proved to be the catalyst for Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, as the new Arsenal midfielder smashed the ball off the crossbar with a deflection from Emi Martinez giving Arsenal the lead with just minutes left on the clock.

Substitute Gabriel Martinelli confirmed all three points for the Gunners, as the Brazilian was left to run through to an open net as Villa committed men forward late on.

Arsenal will look to build on their momentum next weekend when they travel to Leicester to take on the Foxes in another massive game for Arteta’s men.
