According to SportsIndex’s statistics, Arsenal are set to win their first Premier League title in almost twenty years – keeping Manchester City at bay for the rest of the season.

Mikel Arteta could not have expected his side to be where they are this year, after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season. The Spaniard has turned things around in a short period of time, and may be the first Arsenal manager to clinch the title since Arsene Wenger.

Many supporters, and anti-supporters, of the Gunners have been skeptical of their Premier League chances. However, belief within the squad is at an all-time high coming into the latter stages of the campaign. With SportingIndex predicting Arsenal to win their 14th title.

A spokesperson from Sporting Index said: “After composing a brilliant six-game winning run before the March international break, we now forecast Mikel Arteta’s side will finish on 88 points, two points clear of Manchester City, to win the 2022/23 Premier League title.”

The Gunners still have a few tough fixtures remaining in their quest for silverware, including a trip to Anfield and The Etihad, matches that could make or break their season. Winning the title is their only chance of silverware this season, after being knocked out of the Europa League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

It’s not just the north London side that are predicted to have a historic season, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle could be on their way to European football. Statistics suggest that The Magpies will keep the likes of, Liverpool and Spurs away and finish fourth – qualifying for the Champions League.

SportingIndex were quoted, saying: “As the season begins its conclusion, the battle for next year’s Champions League starts to heat up. We forecast high-flying Newcastle will secure European football for the first time since the 2013/14 season by finishing fourth on 67 points, just ahead of Tottenham Hotspur on 65.”
