Arsenal released their new away kit during their pre season tour of America today, with many fans immediately calling the strip the ‘ugliest shirt of all time’.

The Gunners took time away from their tour of America to show off their new away strip for next season, that looks to ‘celebrate the club’s Islington roots’.

Arsenal say the shirt is a “fresh, shock-yellow”, but on first appearances the new strip seems to have more of a luminescent tone to it that has left many fans unimpressed.

Fans took to Twitter to reply to Arsenal’s new shirt, saying things like: “This is the ugliest shirt we’ve ever had. And we’ve had some ugly shirts.”

Another added: “This is the ugliest football shirt for…. maybe ever!”

Other fans were quick to add that the new shirt looks like a ‘safety hazard’ and that the Gunners picked the worst season for the ‘ugly’ kit to be released, ahead of their return to the Champions League.

The kit takes inspiration from Arsenal’s roots in Islington, North London and an official statement on their website said the intention was to broadcast Islington on to the world stage.

“Today, Tuesday, July 18, Arsenal and adidas unveil the bold new men’s team away kit for the 2023/24 season, celebrating the club’s Islington roots and broadcasting the brightest Arsenal-supporting artists onto the world stage.

“The eye-catching shirt features fluid black lines inspired by the map of Islington. The design represents the journeys supporters make out of the club’s home borough for away days on the road.”

With Arsenal back amongst Europe’s elite next season after finishing second in the Premier League, their new kit will be broadcast all over the world for fans to see and with its bright design, it’ll be hard to miss.
