Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a move for David Raya having made contact with his camp as he looks to secure a move away from Brentford this summer, whilst Bayern Munich are also said to be interested.

David Raya, who has long been linked with a move away from Brentford this summer, is reportedly the subject to transfer interest from Premier League runners-up Arsenal.

The goalkeeper is also of interest to Bayern Munich if reports are to be believed, whilst the Bees are holding out for £40million to part ways with the Spaniard.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal have made contact with Raya’s camp, and the player prefers a move to the Emirates over a move to the Bundesliga champions.

Revealing on his social media channels on Monday morning, Romano confirmed that there are no issues on the player’s side of the deal, and it is all down to whether the Gunners can meet Brentford’s valuation of the stopper.

“Understand Arsenal have made contact with David Raya’s camp to start talks on salary — as player prefers Arsenal over Bayern as destination” Romano tweeted.

“Discussions are taking place, no issues with Raya but key point will be between clubs as Brentford always insisted on £40m fee.”

Both Manchester United and Tottenham had been heavily linked with Raya earlier in the window, but were put off by his hefty price tag.

The Gunners, of course, already have Aaron Ramsdale and Matt Turner at their disposal, and whilst Raya would almost certainly be above Turner in the pecking order, it’s hard to see a scenario where he’d overtake Ramsdale as the club’s first choice goalkeeper.

Brentford have already prepared for Raya’s departure with the signing of Mark Flekken from Freiburg, however due to their valuation of the 27-year-old – they may struggle to find a suitor for his signature.
