Arsenal are reportedly increasingly confident that they will strike a deal with Brentford to sign David Raya, whilst current second choice goalkeeper Matt Turner undergoes a medical with Nottingham Forest.

Newly-crowned Community Shield winners Arsenal are said to be increasingly confident in striking a deal with Brentford over the signing of David Raya.

The Spanish stopper has been linked with an exit from the Gtech Community Stadium for several months, and after drawing interest from Tottenham, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, it looks as if the Gunners will secure his signing uncontested.

Their interest in Raya comes amid the impending departure of current second choice goalkeeper Matt Turner, who is closing in on a permanent switch to Nottingham Forest.

Football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Turner will undergo his medical with the Midlands club today, with the move now all but confirmed.

“Matt Turner will undergo medical today at Forest — deal agreed on permanent transfer as revealed on Friday.” Romano tweeted on Monday morning.

“Arsenal, increasingly confident to get David Raya deal done very soon.”

The Bees have been looking to secure £40million for Raya’s signature since the start of the window, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal match that valuation.

Their hefty price tag is the main reason as to why United and Spurs withdrew their interest in the 27-year-old.

Having already spent over £200million throughout the window, Raya would become Arsenal’s fourth summer signing.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already bolstered their ranks with the marquee signing of Declan Rice from West Ham, as well as Kai Havertz from Chelsea and Jurrien Timber from Ajax.

With over 50 Premier League appearances to his name, Raya looks to be a sound acquisition to deputise for the Gunners’ first-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
