Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte are set to rematch almost eight years on from their first fight. The pair of heavyweight’s fought back in December 2015 in their highly-anticipated grudge match, and are set to battle once more in the boxing ring on August 12th at the O2 Arena, London.

Joshua vs Whyte 2 Officially ON!

After months of discussions and contract negotiations, Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte 2 has been officially announced for August 12th at the O2 Arena, London.

Boxing fans are in for a treat next month, with these two Bitter rivals set to do battle for the second time, almost eight years on from their first bout.

First time around, Joshua and Whyte were both undefeated, facing off on December 12th 2015 at the same venue as the rematch – the O2 Arena. First time around, both Joshua and Whyte had a spiteful build up, which made the fight absolutely huge at the time.

The vacant British Heavyweight Title was on the line on the night, with both Joshua and Whyte putting their unbeaten record on the line. On the night, it was the former two-time world heavyweight champion ‘AJ’ who came out on top in emphatic fashion.

Joshua dominated the fight, before conclusively knocking ‘The Body Snatcher’ out cold in the seventh round of their contest. Bar a shaking third round in which Whyte looked to have stunned Joshua, ‘AJ’ was well on top and avenged his loss to Whyte from back in the amateurs.

Joshua vs Whyte 2 Loser In Precarious Position

With the rematch set for just over a month away, Joshua vs Whyte 2 will come around in no time. Both men come into this fight off a win last time out against American heavyweight Jermaine Franklin.

Prior to that, Whyte lost to Tyson Fury in his maiden world title challenge, with Joshua losing back-to-back fights to undisputed heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk.

Now, it seems that the loser of this fight has nowhere to go. It is simply a must win for both men. A loss here for Joshua all but ends his dreams of becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion. Similarly, a loss for Whyte will likely finish any hopes of a second world title challenge for ‘The Body Snatcher’.

There are huge ramifications for the heavyweight division on the line for this, with the winner potentially fighting Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia in December.

What a huge night of boxing we have on our hands at the O2 Arena on August 12th. Fingers crossed the fight lives up to the hype and delivers another sensational match-up.
