Since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, Anthony Gordon’s Newcastle United stats have gone on to prove his doubters wrong this season. The 22-year-old is widely considered as one of the Magpies star players and he has been truly impressive in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League for Eddie Howe’s side.
With an abundance of pace, Gordon has been the bane of defenders across the land this season and his ability in front of goal has perhaps caught everybody by surprise. However, it’s not just his attacking attributes that have proved his doubters wrong, Gordon is tigerish in the tackle and is not afraid to help his side out defensively when their backs are against the wall.
Many believe the Liverpudlian’s performances should have warranted a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad by now, with some believing he could be a useful asset at Euro 2024. Whatever happens, Gordon has been a revelation for Newcastle this season and here at SportsLens, we take a closer look at Anthony Gordon’s stats that have proved his doubters wrong and propelled him into a Premier League star.

Anthony Gordon Stats For Newcastle
Anthony Gordon’s stats for Newcastle United in the 2023/24 season have been truly impressive. After struggling to make an impact when he joined the club in January, Gordon’s stats this year have further demonstrated why boss Eddie Howe kept faith in him.
In terms of goals, only Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson have more in the Premier League and only Kieran Trippier can boast more assists than the flying left-winger. As mentioned, compared to his struggling start last season, Gordon has been like a brand new signing. Here are his key stats across all competitions in 2023/24:
- Appearances – 20
- Goals – 6
- Assists – 5
Anthony Gordon Transfer Fee
Anthony Gordon’s transfer fee is reported to be £45m. Newcastle United paid £40m upfront with the remaining £5m to be paid via performance related add-ons so all in all, fairly good business from the Magpies perspective. Admittedly, it did seem a hefty sum when he moved from Everton to St James’ Park but Gordon’s stats this season prove it was money well spent.
Gordon came through the ranks at Goodison Park and was very highly regarded on the blue half of Merseyside, so to lose him to what was at the time a Premier League rival would have been a bitter pill to swallow. To rub salt into the wounds, Gordon formally handed in a transfer request to force through his move to Tyneside.

Anthony Gordon Winning Goals
Anthony Gordon’s winning goals this season have seen him installed as a fans favourite at Newcastle United. He only scored once in 16 Premier League appearances last season, in the final game of 2022/23 in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea. This year, however, has been a different story.
Of the six goals Anthony Gordon has scored in 2023/24, two of them have proven to be match winners, coming in 1-0 wins over Arsenal and Manchester United. He could have added Liverpool to that tally had it not been for a late Darwin Nunez brace back in August but Gordon has also netted against Burnley, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Anthony Gordon’s stats this season have certainly proved his doubters wrong and he’ll be aiming to leave his mark against old club Everton on match week 15 of the 2023/24 Premier League. The best UK betting sites make Newcastle match favourites at 27/20 with the draw 5/2, Everton can be backed at 47/20.
