Rumours linking Eredivisie-winning manager Arne Slot to the vacant job at Spurs appear to have been quashed after he publicly committed his future to Feyenoord for at least another season, which has led to another shake-up in the Tottenham next manager odds market.
Arne Slot, who was as short as 10/11 to make the switch to north London earlier this week after expressing his admiration for the Premier League, has quickly shot down rumours linking him with a departure this summer.
Having led Feyenoord to their first title in six years this term, the mightily impressive 44-year-old admitted his next career move would likely be abroad.
Despite being highly sought after, Slot was eager to quell any reports of him exiting the newly-crowned Eredivise champions in a follow up statement to his press conference last week.
It read: “I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other clubs’ interest in me.
“Although I am thankful my wish is to stay at Feyenoord and continue working on what we created last year.
“There is not – and there has not – been transfer conversation and yesterday’s meeting [with Feyenoord] was exclusively for an extension.”
Although Spurs are not believed to have met with Slot directly, the club were reportedly put off by a disagreement over a buy-out clause, which effectively ended initial talks.
With managerial targets toppling left, right and centre, the mystery as to who will take up the vacant hot seat by the beginning of next season rumbles on.
Fresh rumours linking Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou have emerged overnight, and the hope is negotiations would be smoother than recent talks with Arne Slot and fellow top target Luis Enrique, who is naturally demanding of the board – perhaps something they are hoping to avoid after a strenuous break-up with Antonio Conte.
The Australian has secured a Scottish league and cup double in both of his seasons in charge of Celtic thus far, and is widely praised for implementing an expansive, attractive brand of football.
Tipped for a larger role in the future, the 57-year-old would certainly bring calm and harmony to Tottenham following a succession of grating characters in the dugout.
