Ex-Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has claimed that his new employers Al-Hilal are a ‘top club’ and are ‘a bit like Real Madrid’, whilst he has also revealed that he has no nostalgia for playing in England.

After switching the Premier League for the Saudi Pro League, Aleksandar Mitrovic has claimed that Al-Hilal are a ‘top club’ and that they are similar to how Real Madrid are seen in Europe.

Mitrovic’s Fulham career came to a sour end after he forced his way out of Craven Cottage by refusing to be a part of Marco Silva’s squad, which saw him depart for Saudi Arabia in a deal worth a reported £50million – a club record fee.

The Serbian was one of several stars from England to make the switch to the Middle Eastern league, linking up with the likes of Neymar, Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at Al-Hilal.

His career in the Saudi top flight has got off to a flying start too, as he now has five goals to his name in just four matches – including a hat-trick against the league champions Al-Ittihad, who they beat 4-3 at the beginning of September.

And now, the 29-year-old has revealed that he has ‘no nostalgia’ about playing in England, and that he is happy to have ‘finally’ joined a top club in Al-Hilal.

“I have no nostalgia for England, I played many years there,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’m happy to have finally arrived at a top club. Al-Hilal is a bit like Real Madrid in Europe,

“I’m very happy here and I want to win titles.”
