The 2023 Grand Slam of Darts is well underway, with the final major of the year before the World Championships taking centre stage in Wolverhampton. But what is the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts prize money and just how much is the winner expected to make in prize money?

2023 Grand Slam Of Darts Prize Money

The 2023 Grand Slam of Darts is well underway, with the final set for Sunday, 19th November. 32 players started out with dreams of going all the way at the Grand Slam of Darts, but just one will remain come Sunday night.

In terms of darts major, the World Championships is seen as the biggest tournament of the lot, with the World Matchplay the second biggest major. After that, the likes of the Grand Slam of Darts, Grand Prix, UK Open, Masters and Players are seen as the next biggest events.

With the Grand Slam of Darts perceived as the fourth or fifth biggest event in the world of darts, that of course means there is some lucrative prize money on offer. This year is no different, with the total Grand Slam of Darts prize money set at £650,000.

This is the same as last year, when Michael Smith triumphed and earned the biggest purse of them all for his first major title. The Grand Slam of Darts prize money increased back in 2022 by £100,000. In 2021, there was just £550,000 in prize money on offer.

This prize money is then split between each of the 32 players who qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts. The winner of course takes home the biggest purse of £150,000, with the runner-up pocketing a tidy £70,000. The two defeated semi-finalists each pocket £50,000, with the four beaten quarter-finalists earning £25,000 each.

For the 16 players who make it to the knockout stages, they earn £12,250 each. For the players who failed to make it out of the group, they still receive a prize purse, but nowhere near as much. Third in the group takes home a purse of £8,000, with the player who finishes bottom of the group earning just £5,000.

Fourth in Group £5,000
Bonuses

As you can see from the table above, the Grand Slam of Darts prize money totals £650,000. This £650k is then split between each of the 32 players who featured in the tournament. The further each darts player progresses in the tournament, the more Grand Slam of Darts prize money they earn.

There are also two different types of bonuses on offer for the players. The nine-dart finish will see a player rewarded with a £10,000 bonus for their perfect leg.  A nine-darter is the darts equivalent to a hole in one in golf or a 147-break in snooker. So far, just Ryan Searle has struck perfection in his group game on Monday, 13th November.

The other bonus is for winning the group. There are eight different groups in the Grand Slam of Darts, named from A-H. Each winner of their respective group will receive a £3,500 bonus on top of the prize money they will earn from reaching the Last 16 of the tournament and potentially beyond.

For example, Josh Rock won Group B, Luke Humphries won Group C and James Wade won Group A. This means that these three players, along with the five other group winners, will all receive an addition £3,500 in prize money.
