Dublin Racing Festival: Saturday 4th February 2023

Seven races on day one of the Dublin Racing Festival that sees four Grade One races.

The current Triumph Hurdle favourite Lossiemouth will be all the rage in the Spring Hurdle (1:55) as she looks to enhance her growing reputation. We’ve also got the Irish Arkle (2:30) that could see a clash between the Mullins pair Dysart Dynamo and Appreciate It.

Fascile Mode is a potential star of the future on show in the bumper (4:40), but the big draw on the opening day is the ante-post Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite Galopin Des Champs, who will be a warm order in the Irish Gold Cup (3:05).

As the action moves into Sunday the level of racing doesn’t drop with another four Grade One prizes up for grabs – the first of those is the Ladbrokes Novice Chase (1:40).

The Dublin Chase (2:10) will give racing fans to see Blue Lord back on the track – he’s one of the big fancies for the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, so a win on Sunday will see his odds shorten for that day two feature.

The unbeaten Facile Vega, who is the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle favourite, is another that punters will have in a lot of doubles, trebles and accas – he goes in the Tattersalls Ireland Novices Hurdle (3:40), but all eyes will be on the three-time Irish Champion Hurdle (3:10) winner Honeysuckle, who lost her unbeaten record last time out, and takes on the classy State Man.
