LUCIUS AURELIUS (system – Kevin Ryan, first run after a wind operation)
Kevin Ryan has a good record with his runners on their first start back after a wind operation and the value lies in siding with those who finished out of the frame (fifth or worse) last time out when relatively fancied in the betting (defined as starting at an SP of 12-1 or shorter). This angle has produced 13 winners from 45 bets for a (28.9% strike-rate) for a profit of £56.38 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 5.60, A/E = 2.32). LUCIUS AURELIUS, nicely drawn in stall 4, has had a wind operation since his 9-1 last of eight at Hamilton in mid-June and could be worth chancing to get off the mark.
KEMPTON 8.25
HURRICANE POWER (system – Paul & Oliver Cole, first-time blinkers)
Nine-race maiden HURRICANE POWER wouldn’t be an obvious contender for this 7f handicap on the evidence of his last two runs – he finished last of seven at Leicester before beating only one home at Chepstow – but first-time blinkers could make the difference tonight. Since the beginning of 2012, his stable is 17 from 90 when using this headgear and backing the qualifiers would have returned a profit of £64.28 to a £1 level stake at SP.
