HECKMONDWIKE (system – Harry Eustace, first-run in an all-weather handicap)
Harry Eustace does well when running one in an all-weather handicap for the first time (regardless of whether that horse had gone handicapping on turf previously), scoring with five of the 29 qualifiers for a lovely profit of £78.83 to the usual £1 stake. Four of the five winners came on Polytrack and HECKMONDWIKE, far from disgraced when sixth of seven in a soft-ground 1m2f handicap at Windsor last time, might do better back on a synthetic surface.
Naas 2.20
KANSAI (system – Sioux Nation, small fields)
Progeny of the sire Sioux Nation have a good record in fields of ten or fewer runners, landing 104 of their 572 starts (18.2% strike-rate) for a profit of £73.07 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who finished second, third or fourth on their latest start were 55 from 181 (30.4%) for a profit of £97.52. KANSAI, a 25-1 third of 15 to Firebird in a strong maiden at Cork last time, can get off the mark.
