BAROQUE BOY (system – George Scott, geldings in AW handicaps)
George Scott’s BAROQUE BOY bombed out at Bath on his turf debut last time, trailing home ten lengths behind the winner in sixth place despite starting as the 13-8 favourite, but the race was not run to suit his patient style and he’s quickly returned to the all-weather. He was a winner at Wolverhampton when last running on an artificial surface and his trainer has a fine recent record with geldings in all-weather handicaps, scoring with 32 of the 119 qualifiers (27%) since the beginning of 2022 for a profit of £27.71 to the usual £1 stake (expected winners = 21.09, A/E = 1.52).
CATTERICK 3.40
SANGATIEN (system – Ivan Furtado, nursery debut, colts/geldings)
Ivan Furtado’s SANGATIEN has shown precious little in four runs to date but the switch to handicap company in a first-time tongue-tie could bring about improvement. His trainer does well with colts/geldings on their nursery debuts, scoring with five of the 15 qualifiers for a profit of £90.00 to a £1 level stake at SP, with four of the beaten horses finishing second (18-1, 5-1, 4-1 and 9-4).
