Ange Postecoglou has suggested that he needs further bolstering during the summer to execute his plans at Tottenham. SportsLens has listed five players that would be perfect for Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs have gone four games without a win and missed opportunities to capitalise on Aston Villa’s stumbles in the race for the top four.
Postecoglou has shown visible frustration on the sidelines due to his team’s inability to secure a point for over a month, leading to concerns about the depth of his squad.
According to reports, Daniel Levy is set to provide funds for three crucial signings during the summer transfer window because many players could be heading out the door.
Five Players Tottenham Should Sign This Summer
Dominic Solanke – Bournemouth
Signing Solanke for Spurs seems like a no-brainer, given his exceptional form for Bournemouth this season, with 18 league goals to his name.
Should Solanke secure a transfer to a top-six club this summer, Spurs appear to be the most probable destination. Arsenal seems to be exploring other options, with Gyokeres on their radar and other top six clubs already having their preferred number nines in place.
Additionally, with Solanke in the team, Son Heung-min could return to his preferred wing position, as he has faced difficulties maintaining his goal-scoring form while operating as a central striker.
Solanke’s potential arrival could pave the way for Richarlison’s exit. The Brazilian could be sold this summer if the right offer comes along, with the funds possibly redirected towards strengthening the attacking options.
Pedro Neto – Wolves
While Pedro Neto undoubtedly possesses considerable talent, Wolves may not receive the desired fee for him this summer due to his injury troubles.
However, they might find themselves compelled to offload him because of their struggles with Premier League spending regulations.
Tottenham might face competition from other big six clubs for the acquisition of Neto if they pursue him. Postecoglou could lure Neto with the prospect of more game time than clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool, potentially leading to negotiations for a reduced transfer fee.
Despite his injury setbacks, the winger has consistently displayed his quality whenever he’s been on the pitch, making him a risk worth considering, especially given his impressive 14 goal contributions in 23 matches.
Kyogo Furuhashi – Celtic
It might be seen as an unexpected choice, but given that the 29-year-old scored 34 goals in 50 games under Postecoglou last season, it’s clear that the coach knows how to unlock the attacker’s full potential.
He would serve as a backup and probably wouldn’t be the first choice, as he hasn’t reached the 20-goal mark this season. However, Furuhashi is a dynamic player with high energy levels who is willing to press relentlessly and possesses a knack for goals.
Despite having three years remaining on his contract, the forward won’t come cheap, although he’s less expensive than many Premier League alternatives.
Jota – Al-Ittihad
Under Postecoglou’s tenure at Celtic, the Portuguese star excelled, netting 28 goals and providing 26 assists in 83 appearances.
Jota would serve as a capable rotation option initially, bringing agility upfront with an average of nearly one goal every four games.
Having moved to Al-Ittihad last summer, the striker has endured a tough time. Therefore, a summer transfer to reunite with his former boss could be a possibility.
Tyrick Mitchell – Crystal Palace
The Crystal Palace left-back has been the subject of transfer speculation to a top-six club ever since his breakthrough two seasons ago.
His performance has significantly improved since Oliver Glasner’s arrival, making it difficult for other clubs to tempt him away from Selhurst Park. However, with just one year remaining on his contract, Palace may be open to selling him.
Playing as a wing-back under his new manager, Mitchell has been instrumental in Palace’s recent defensive success, helping the team keep three clean sheets in their last five games.
However, he would probably only be pursued if Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies are offloaded, especially considering Destiny Udogie’s strong hold on the left-back position when he’s not injured.
