POLITACUS (system – Fergal O’Brien, Kelso)
In-form Fergal O’Brien has a solid record with his runners at Kelso, scoring with 13 of the 31 qualifiers (42%) for a profit of £6.42 to a £1 level stake at SP. In handicaps only the score is eight from 18 for a profit of £11.50. POLITACUS, two from two since fitted with a tongue-tie, also gets first-time cheekpieces this afternoon and can complete her hat-trick.
KEMPTON 6.30
RINNOVATI (system – Archie Watson, stable switchers)
Archie Watson does well at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 39 of the 165 qualifiers (23.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £57.49 to a £1 level stake at SP. RINNOVATI finished well held in here three runs for Eve Johnson Houghton but attracted market interest ahead of her debut run and might do better now handicapping.
FONTWELL 7.40
JAMAICAINE (system – J P McManus-owned, Class 5 jumps handicaps)
Owner J P McManus is well known for his victories in big races, but he also does well in Class 5 handicap hurdles/chases, the lowest grade of jumps handicap in Britain. JAMAICAINE has pulled up the last twice but those runs came on soft/heavy going and tonight’s better ground will suit.
